Resident Volunteers
The Silverton Fire District is currently seeking interested individuals for the position of Resident Volunteer Firefighter. To apply download the application (found below) complete and email to Lt. Rick Heuchert or return it to the Fire District Main Station, 819 Railway Ave NE, Silverton, OR 97381.
In order to apply for the Resident Volunteer Firefighter position candidates must be either accepted into or currently enrolled in a Fire Science program.
Only complete applications will be considered. A complete application contains;
- -The application packet including the supplemental questions
- -Report card for most recent completed term at either high school or college
- -Letter of acceptance to the Fire Science Program
- -If CPAT has been completed your score also must be attached.
The general philosophy of the Resident Volunteer Firefighter Program is to provide a learning opportunity in conjunction with the Fire Science and Emergency Medical Programs at an institution of higher learning in exchange for firefighting, emergency medical and other related Fire District services.
The intent of the program is to enhance your learning opportunities by becoming a volunteer firefighter. This will also enhance our ability to respond to emergencies and prepare you for a career in fire and or EMS.
