Mother’s Day Breakfast

The Silverton Fire District Firefighter’s Association is proud to once again provide an awesome Smoked Ham Breakfast in Celebration of Mother’s Day. Firefighters will be serving Breakfast from 7:00AM until 1:00PM at the Main Fire Station in Silverton, 819 Rail Way NE.

Please join us for a full breakfast, tours, fire truck raffle and much more!

The Fire District is looking for Volunteers for all stations. If you are interested please stop by and talk with our recruiter.

Resident Volunteer Firefighter position opening

We are currently seeking currently enrolled Paramedic or Fire technology students at a state accredited college or university, to fill a vacant Resident Volunteer position. Time to change your clocks, time to check your smoke alarms

Don’t forget to set your clocks forward 1 hour before you go to bed the Saturday night. With the time change this weekend, it is a good time to remember to check your smoke alarms and carbon monoxide alarm batteries. Remember working smoke and carbon monoxide alarms save lives.

Open Burning Allowed

As of Friday March 1st Silverton Fire District has opened the backyard burning season. Please make sure to keep your fires 50 feet away from a structure and that you have water and hand tools available. Also before lighting your fire contact the Silverton Burn Line at 503-873-3138 and follow the burning regulations for that day.

Class of 2012 End of Probation

Last Wednesday members of the 2012 Academy Class completed their probationary period. With the removal of their probationary stickers from their helmets it signifies a culmination of 12 months of training and emergency response. The members that completed their probation are, from the Abiqua Station; Jacob Homutoff, Ian Peterson, Josh Rogers and Spencer Grant. From the Silverton Main Station; Adam Stutzman, Josh Wimp, Justin Humphreys and Colton Hanson. Several of these members are now assisting with the instruction of the 2013 Academy.
Congratulations to all of you you for all of your hard work and dedication to the Silverton Fire District and the communities we serve.

2013 Academy Has Started

On January 4th the 2013 Fire Academy started at the Silverton Fire Main Station. This year we have eight Volunteer Firefighters and two support personnel as well as Hubbard Fire District has sent 2 firefighters to participate in the training. Of the eight Volunteer Firefighters two of them are Resident Volunteers. Resident Volunteers are volunteers that live at the station and are ready to respond to calls at all hours.

12th Annual Food and Toy Drive Update

Thank you to all those that helped out with the Food and Toy Drive this year. This year the community really stepped up and helped their neighbors. On Sunday, December 16th, we concluded the toy drive by taking the toys to Emmanuel Lutheran Church. Fun was had by all that participated in the delivery. You may have seen us driving through town with our trucks playing Christmas music. I am happy to say that we were able to deliver between $15,000 and $20,000 worth of toys to the church. All of the families and children that were on the tree of giving got a present this year.

On Monday, December 15th, We were out again parading through town playing Christmas music on our way to the Silverton Area Community Aid, SACA, to deliver the food. The total numbers are not in yet but the estimation is about 30,000 pounds of food that was delivered.

Thank you to all that helped in the collecting and delivering of the food and toys. As well as thank you to all that donated to this years toy drive. Because of all of everyone’s efforts many more families were able to have a Merrier Christmas.
